Groundhog Day
Today is Groundhog Day when Punxsutawney Phil predicts the arrival of spring.  Unfortunately, when Phil emerged from his den he saw his shadow thus foretelling six more weeks of winter.

In related news, when Joe emerged from his garage he also saw his shadow thus foretelling many more weeks of crisis and confusion.

THE End of English
A company that identifies as Associated Press (AP) has declared that a word formerly known as 'THE" is now offensive.

The latest AP Stylebook says "We recommend avoiding general and often dehumanizing "the" labels such as the poor, the mentally ill... the French.  Instead use wording such as people with mental illness"

People who identify as French responded.

Fortunately, AP was sufficiently embarrassed and retracted the statement. It appears that 'the' will survive to fight another day.

More Aid For Ukraine

This week pResident Biden reversed course and has decided to send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. 

This is mostly PR since the tanks will not be delivered for several months... perhaps as long as a year.  However, it allows Germany to send a number of Leopard tanks immediately.

The Ginsburg Statue
New York has added a strange demonic statue to the New York Supreme Court building on Madison Ave to honor Justice Ruth Ginsburg and her fight for abortion rights..

The golden, horned creature with slithering tentacles for arms and legs joins classical statues of legendary law-givers, such as Moses, Confucius and Zoroaster. 

It seems to be a fitting tribute to Progressive legal thinking.
