The Next Civil War
One of the books referenced in the original post is The Next Civil War - Dispatches from the American Future - by Stephen Marche 2022.
The most amazing thing about this book is that it's written by a Progressive Canadian who seems to have no grasp on reality.
Of course the 'insurgents' and 'terrorists' are rural white hicks who are exterminated by the military that remains loyal to the Progressive Urban Socialist (PUS) Leadership. BARF.

- Sidebar - One of his scenarios has no civil war. Rapidly rising sea levels makes New York (and other coastal cities) uninhabitable and the nation collapses into a backwards rural morass. I suppose the author sees this as just punishment for ignoring the existential threat of Climate Change. DOUBLE BARF
