KARMA - 8$ Gas in LA
Wow, Just a few weeks ago I was writing about gas going over $6 in Kalifornia. Yesterday it surged above $8 in Los Angeles and is even higher in some areas. They voted Progressive so I think they deserve it!

Of course the Progressive media emphasizes that prices are up 32% since Russia, Russia, Russia but neglect to mention that prices were way, way up before the Ukraine 'incursion'. Click the pic.

I have previously written about water scarcity, which is a genuine environmental concern and NOT caused by hysterical climate change. In fact, the problem in the Southwest is due to an 800% population increase since the Hoover Dam (and Lake Meade) was constructed shortly after the last great drought. neoterra.us/blog/water-scarcity

Lake Meade dropped to seriously low levels more than a month ago and the geniuses in California are finally issuing water restrictions on 6 million of the 40 million people that live there. I suppose the other 34 million don't use any water. It is as though they want this crisis to get dramatically worse.

They also claim this is the worst drought in 1200 years which is bullshit and blatant dis-information. I have studied the anthropological records and I can state with 100% certainty that Native Americans did not have rain gauges, thermometers, calendars or written records of the precipitation or temps that they couldn't measure. The claim of this being the worst drought in 1200 years is based on computer simulations with no basis in historical fact.

What we can say as a fact is that this is the second worst drought in 90 years (the Dust Bowl was factually worse) and the current crisis is self-inflicted by the California Progressives who have refused to allow construction of desalinization plants for over 20 years.

The population growth was well known; the limited and unreliable supply of natural water was well known; the crisis was inevitable and completely predictable. Too bad for California... elections have consequences.

Natural Gas
Although the US has abundant supplies of Natural Gas (NG) prices have gone insane since Joe took office due to his relentless attack on US energy. The price roughly doubled prior to the war in Ukraine and has increased another 30% since.

This directly impacts the cost of fertilizer, home heating and electricity.

The WEF is meeting in Davos to continue their 'discussion' of how the COVID pandemic has been a golden opportunity to Reset the World. They have many Boogeymen of Doom lined up to keep us all living in fear and anxiety. Self-inflicted scarcity gets top billing.

Fuel and Energy
I write about this almost every week. Gas and diesel have been increasing ever since Biden took office. Other forms of energy are also increasing... some dramatically.

Prices for gas have increased by 35% since he announced his 'major effort' to reduce prices. Food and Impending Famine
I've written several reports on how the impending food crisis is self inflicted. It started before the war in Ukraine when European countries began to shut down fertilizer production due to critical shortages of Natural Gas.

This week India, the second largest exporter of sugar, has announced restrictions on sugar.

The Globalists have been scaring us with predictions of scarcity ever since the Club Of Rome published The Limits to Growth 50 years ago. They have finally orchestrated the perfect storm. Get ready for the Summer of Scarcity. Compliments of the WEF and Joe Biden.

Sri Lanka
It's still spring and the food shortages (and inflation) in Sri Lanka have already boiled over. The shortages there are not related to the War in Ukraine which has yet to impact the future food supply.

No, the food shortages there are a preview of what happens when the Global Greens are empowered to implement "Green" agriculture.

The police have collapsed, citizens are burning politicians homes and the government has ordered the Army to shoot to kill. Unfortunately, the people of Sri Lanka don't have the ability to shoot back.

India
This week, India joined the growing number of countries that have banned food exports and are hoarding for their own citizens.

Though we tend to associate India with rice production, India is also the 2nd largest wheat producer. However, with a population of over 1.4 Billion, most of that is consumed domestically.

Diesel Fuel
This week, the price of diesel hit a historic record high with prices increasing over 76% in the past year. At the same time, fuel inventories hit a 17 year low.

The situation in the Northeast is even worse. The EIA said distillate fuel oil inventories in the so-called PADD 1 district that covers the Northeastern states fell by 1.1 million barrels last week to just 21 million barrels, the lowest ever recorded. To put this in perspective... that is only a 3 DAY supply.

Please don't try to tell me this is because of the amazing Biden economic recovery or the War in Ukraine. The price of Diesel at the end of 2019 (when the economy was genuinely booming) was $3.069/gal. By February of this year it was $4.104, a 30% increase even though the economy is limping with 'supply chain issues'.

Baby Formula
Seriously, the richest nation on planet Terra can't produce baby formula. Some of this is self-inflicted by the Biden Admin.

Media is claiming this is the fault of evil Abbott Labs but the reality is that the FDA shut down the Abbott Labs Michigan plant (the largest in the country) over three months ago based on a whistleblower accusation and has yet to address the alleged issues and allow the plant to reopen. The shortage is likely to continue for the rest of 2022.

Bette Midler recently quipped "Try breastfeeding" to ridicule the women who can't find formula. I wonder how that would work out for Mayor Pete.

Water Crisis Out West
In the past, I've written about genuine environmental issues that are being ignored to 'Save The Climate'. One of the most urgent issues is a genuine shortage of fresh water in many areas due to relentless population growth.

The current drought in California (and other Western states) is the worst in 100 years. Hydroelectric plants have been shut down due to extremely low water levels. Water conservation measures have been issued in Southern California.

“We don’t have enough water supplies right now to meet normal demand. The water is not there,” MWD spokeswoman Rebecca Kimitch said. “This is unprecedented territory. We’ve never done anything like this before.” www.theepochtimes.com/t-water-shortage

Running Out of Water
The so called 'Climate Scientists' are claiming this is the worst drought EVER. Yes, this drought is BAD, but the Native Americans didn't have rain gauges or keep any records so comparisons are just propaganda.

The Climate Hysterians will then say 'This is the first time in HISTORY that the level in Lake Meade has dropped below the Level 1 Pumping Station". This is a true statement. But they are dishonest... the Hoover Dam wasn't built until 1935 and didn't reach capacity until the Dust Bowl drought was over.

So, this is the worst drought in the 85 year history of the Hoover Dam, but all honest scientists know that the last Great Drought started more than a decade before the dam was built.

The Dust Bowl
The Great Drought began in the late 1920's and continued until around 1941. It lasted for at least 11 years and is regarded as the 'drought of record' for the United States.

Dust storms destroyed entire towns.

Population Increase
When we talk about shortages or scarcity we must consider both supply and demand. There is, indeed, an extreme water shortage in the Southwest. But I see no evidence that it's due to 'Climate Change'.

The population of California was about 5.7 million in 1930's (when the Hoover Dam was built) and it is almost 40 million today. The population increases in Arizona and Nevada are even more dramatic.

Arizona 435,573 -- 7,151,391
Nevada 91,058 -- 3,104,614

Overall, the population of the region increased by about 800%. The demand/consumption of water has increased even more. However, Mother Nature is not a capitalist and has made no effort to increase the supply of rain.

Without any increase in supply, a water crisis was inevitable and it has now arrived.

Capitalism does have a solution to this inevitable supply problem... it is called desalinization.

A Self-Inflicted Crisis
In related news, while CA is in the worst drought of modern times, the California Coastal Commission has again rejected plans to build a seawater desalinization plant that would provide about 50 Million gallons of fresh water per day.

The Poseidon Water project, which would convert seawater to drinkable water, was first proposed in the early 2000’s. It has been opposed by 'environmentalists' and has been the subject of seven lawsuits and dozens of local efforts to stop the plant since 2005.

Poseidon has spent $100 Million over the past two decades attempting to get approval for a project that would provide desperately needed fresh water.

I'm waiting for the dire reports of wildfires and rolling power blackouts this summer. The dishonest media will blame it on Climate Change, but it is just another self-inflicted California Crisis.

Self Inflicted Shortages

The shortages keep getting worse. There are a couple of exceptions... no shortage of inflation and no shortage of illegal migrants flooding across the southern border.

Some folks don't believe the shortages (and associated inflation) are Biden's fault. Let's explore.

Natural Gas
Though the United States has abundant supplies of NG, futures have spiked above $8. Is this self-inflicted? Here's what Bloomberg (not exactly a conservative friendly source) has to say. The inventory woes are due to the US exporting "every molecule of liquefied natural gas possible to help Europe reduce its reliance on Russian energy "

The US' mission to resupply Europe with LNG is taking critical supplies away from domestic US markets and boosting prices sky-high, crushing American households to "save" Germans from shortages. (Click the pic)

Please don't blame Putin for this fiasco. In the midst of the worst energy crunch EVER, the German government continues with plans to prematurely close its remaining nuclear power plants. This is self inflicted.

EV Battery Materials
I've written previously about the skyrocketing cost of lithium which is essential for making batteries. neoterra.us/blog/more-scarcity-to-come

The known global reserves of lithium are not sufficient to allow a transition to EVs. The Administration's efforts to force a premature transition have driven the price of lithium up 500% since Biden took office.

This week, Rivian CEO, RJ Scaringe told the WSJ: “Put very simply, all the world’s [EV battery] cell production combined represents well under 10% of what we will need in 10 years.... 90% to 95% of the supply chain does not exist.” www.zerohedge.com/markets/rivian-ceo-warns-coming-ev-battery-supply-shortage

In short, the effort to force a transition to 'sustainable' EVs is not itself sustainable. It is a hoax.

Food and Fertilizer
Unlike Europe, the United States is capable of producing it's own fertilizer (though the escalation in the price of NG has driven fertilizer up as well).

However, last week, Union Pacific rail lines announced that it will be curtailing shipments of fertilizer during the spring planting season. www.cfindustries.com/newsroom/2022/union-pacific-shipping-restrictions

This will seriously impact farmers in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas and California.

I want to remind y'all that BlackRock is literally controlled by the WEF (or, maybe they own the WEF... Blackrock is the world's largest asset manager with $10 TRILLION in assets).

Food and Fuel
Although fuel shortages (and the accompanying high prices) hurt; food shortages are even worse.

As I've written over the past several months, the self-inflicted energy shortages in Europe have resulted in shortages of fertilizer. The War between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in crises level shortages of both fertilizer and wheat.

2022 WILL be a year of massive global food shortages and there is a high possibility there will be famines like we have not seen since the Carter era.

A Whole New Level of Hypocrisy
In the face of surging inflation and global starvation, a wise leader might reverse their idiotic, anti-energy policies.

But NOT Joe... his actions are beyond hypocrisy and border on pure evil.

Joe has announced that his administration will ignore environmental regulations and allow E15 (i.e. 15% ethanol) gasoline to be sold. There are multiple problems with this decision.

Ethanol is an inferior fuel compared to gasoline. Ethanol contains less energy per gallon than gasoline or diesel. (It's science).
Because it has less energy per gallon, ethanol fuel will yield worse mileage. Every dime you save at the pump is an illusion because you have to burn more gallons and fill-up more often. Burning ethanol is bullshit. (It's science)
Ethanol is made from corn (aka: FOOD). Corn is one of humanity's primary alternatives to wheat.... the wheat that will become incredibly scarce later this year.

Joe is willing to burn FOOD to create the illusion of lower gas prices during the worst humanitarian food crisis in generations. He isn't doing this for the 'working people', he certainly isn't doing it for the environment, he absolutely isn't doing this to prepare for a humanitarian food crises.

NO, this POS is doing it to get a small boost in the polls before the midterms. He knows that millions will starve because they can't get Ukrainian wheat or American corn. He knows... and he does NOT give a shit.

Joe should be held accountable for every famine related death in 2022-2023 and then put on trial for Crimes Against Humanity.

Here ya' go... right from NPR. Of course it's Trump's fault and Putin's fault that we've had runaway inflation for 15 months. If you believe that, please move to California or Venezuela.

Gasoline
Biden's pledge to release about 180 Million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has brought little relief at the pump and will consume about 30% of the critical stockpile.

Some Progressive pundits are applauding this measure saying a war in Europe is exactly why the Reserve was created. That is just total bullshit. While it's true that there's a war in Europe, WE aren't fighting it.

Biden is draining the Reserve in a blatant attempt to influence the midterm elections.

The danger is that the Reserve will be too depleted in the event of a real national emergency (like China attacking Taiwan).

In the meantime, gasoline prices in California have hit absurd new highs. They voted for this insanity so I think this is KARMA.

Nationally, the Progressive states have the highest prices... of course they do. Maybe the working folks in those states will take Mayor Pete's advice and buy electric cars. What??? you say you can't afford an EV... then you can walk 5 miles to work in a blizzard. Abe Lincoln did it.

You all need to sacrifice to fight the non-existent Climate Change crisis.

Fertilizer and Food
Long before the War in Ukraine, I was writing about the food shortages that would result from fertilizer shortages in Europe. This is all self-inflicted by their 'Green' energy policies... the same policies that Biden is trying to inflict on the American people.

Since Russia and Ukraine are major suppliers of wheat and other grains, the War is exacerbating the problem. There will be global food shortages this year and famines in poor countries.

Awhile back I predicted shortages of pasta (it's shelf stable) and stocked up. This week, the store-brand pasta at Walmart is gone and only the more expensive brands are available.

At the same time, there is an expanding avian flu epidemic spreading throughout America. Over 24 Million chickens and turkeys have died over the past few weeks, impacting the supply of poultry and eggs. In Iowa, which is the largest producer of eggs, almost 20% of the egg-laying hens have already died. It might be prudent to stock up on powdered eggs and canned chicken.

Again, I don't think anyone in America will starve... prices will go up. The effect in poor countries, however, will be famine.

Shortages DO NOT Equal Scarcity

I promise that the next post will be optimistic. Please consider this one to be a transition.

The Fauci Flu boogeyman is exiting stage-left. Remarkably, the 'Science' changed overnight and all the Dems were mask-less at the SOTU. They are now champions of freedom and are ending vax-pass. (They are also the champions of Law-And-Order... but I'll cover that in Clown World).

The Great Reset folks and their Progressive 'elite' are determined to destroy the middle-class by 2030 and establish the world of Global Sheepdom. "You will own nothing and you WILL be happy"

They used the Fauci Flu to crush small businesses and reduce millions of people to dependency. If their lock-downs and mandates were truly well intentioned then we should now be back on the road to abundance and optimism.

But in the SOTU, Joe resurrected the existential threat of Climate Change. The fear shall continue.

As I wrote in "The Perfect Storm" Scary Scarcity is next up and, thanks to Putin, they have Fearsome Fallout to distract us for a few months while they re-arrange the stage to create a global food crisis.

Food shortages will be used to create fear and anxiety. They will blame it on Climate Change (or on Russia) in an attempt to avoid public backlash and keep the Mass Psychosis theater churning. The Sheep will believe.

BUT self-inflicted shortages are NOT the same as actual Scarcity. In 2019:

The United States was not merely energy independent... we were exporting energy
We had the highest employment (in real absolute numbers) in history
We enjoyed low inflation in spite of record high employment
We had the lowest actual unemployment and the lowest welfare in 50 years
The stores were stocked and everything was plentiful.
People were optimistic (I admit that Progressives were miserable, but I'm OK with that)

A little over a year ago there was a polar shift. Somehow, we went from global abundance to the perception of scarcity in a few short months.

There is a silver lining. The Progressives have no vision and no tools to mitigate the train wreck in time for the mid-terms. All they have is deflection and propaganda and I don't believe that will save them.

WOW! I can't get ahead of the crap. Immediately after my last post, Russia has shut down exports of fertilizer. And, just 20 minutes ago Hungry announced it is banning grain exports immediately. They will be hording grain for their own people.

Suggest you buy flour, rice and other grain products like pasta and breakfast cereal now. Prices are likely to go way up in the weeks ahead (and if they don't you'll still eat the food you buy now).
