Germs are everywhere I tell you... EVERYWHERE. The WHO and the CDC are back in the news with brand-new threats to distract us from Ukraine... which is no longer distracting us from raging inflation and spiraling crime and empty shelves.

Mysterious Hepatitis
The WHO announced on Friday (sorry, I'm a couple of days behind on this one) that they are investigating 74 cases of a mysterious strain of acute hepatitis in children under age 13. The cases have occurred in the UK, Northern Ireland and Alabama.

All common forms of hepatitis have been ruled out. Get ready to PANIC.

Mysterious Outbreak of Meningitis
The CDC is warning of a meningitis outbreak in Florida. There have been 21 cases so far this year. This "large, ongoing outbreak" is primarily among "gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men".

Not to make light of a potentially dangerous disease, but do 21 cases in a state of 22 Million really constitute a 'large' outbreak? Should we all PANIC?

The Florida Department of health says "Obviously that rings alarm bells with epidemiology and they want to start making sure that it’s known there’s a vaccine.."

Shortages DO NOT Equal Scarcity

I promise that the next post will be optimistic. Please consider this one to be a transition.

The Fauci Flu boogeyman is exiting stage-left. Remarkably, the 'Science' changed overnight and all the Dems were mask-less at the SOTU. They are now champions of freedom and are ending vax-pass. (They are also the champions of Law-And-Order... but I'll cover that in Clown World).

The Great Reset folks and their Progressive 'elite' are determined to destroy the middle-class by 2030 and establish the world of Global Sheepdom. "You will own nothing and you WILL be happy"

They used the Fauci Flu to crush small businesses and reduce millions of people to dependency. If their lock-downs and mandates were truly well intentioned then we should now be back on the road to abundance and optimism.

But in the SOTU, Joe resurrected the existential threat of Climate Change. The fear shall continue.

As I wrote in "The Perfect Storm" Scary Scarcity is next up and, thanks to Putin, they have Fearsome Fallout to distract us for a few months while they re-arrange the stage to create a global food crisis.

Food shortages will be used to create fear and anxiety. They will blame it on Climate Change (or on Russia) in an attempt to avoid public backlash and keep the Mass Psychosis theater churning. The Sheep will believe.

BUT self-inflicted shortages are NOT the same as actual Scarcity. In 2019:

The United States was not merely energy independent... we were exporting energy
We had the highest employment (in real absolute numbers) in history
We enjoyed low inflation in spite of record high employment
We had the lowest actual unemployment and the lowest welfare in 50 years
The stores were stocked and everything was plentiful.
People were optimistic (I admit that Progressives were miserable, but I'm OK with that)

A little over a year ago there was a polar shift. Somehow, we went from global abundance to the perception of scarcity in a few short months.

There is a silver lining. The Progressives have no vision and no tools to mitigate the train wreck in time for the mid-terms. All they have is deflection and propaganda and I don't believe that will save them.

WOW! I can't get ahead of the crap. Immediately after my last post, Russia has shut down exports of fertilizer. And, just 20 minutes ago Hungry announced it is banning grain exports immediately. They will be hording grain for their own people.

Suggest you buy flour, rice and other grain products like pasta and breakfast cereal now. Prices are likely to go way up in the weeks ahead (and if they don't you'll still eat the food you buy now).

I've written a bit about Scary Scarcity and Calamity Climate Change. The current crisis in Ukraine reminds me that governments have been using fear and anxiety to manipulate us forever.

With the COVID Boogeyman loosing appeal it's time to bring back the Big Guy, the biggest, baddest Boogeyman of all time... Russia and Fearsome Fallout.

Honestly, it's been so long since I had Fallout Anxiety that I forgot to include him in the Boogeyman Hall of Fame.

Today I will correct that terrible oversight and give Fallout the honor of Top Boogeyman of All Time.

Fearsome Fallout
In the 50's and 60's Fearsome Fallout was the Big Boogeyman. Teachers taught Duck-and-Cover in the classroom (sort of like teaching CRT today). We were taught to be constantly vigilant for nuclear destruction which could happen at any moment.

Watch this short clip and tell me this wasn't a fear and anxiety campaign targeting the young.

It truly was mass psychosis, the government and media went nuts with Fallout Mania. Building home fallout shelters became the responsible (and glamorous) thing to do. The Prepper Movement is nothing new. Click the Pics.

Fearsome Fallout is Back on Stage
Putin has brought Fearsome Fallout back to his rightful place on center stage. And Little Rocketman is joining in on the fun with more missile tests.

Our genius government actually updated the Nuclear Explosion Readiness Site just last week. I am not making this up!

In the event of atomic war "maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household. If possible, wear a mask if you’re sheltering with people who are not a part of your household. "

"Many people may already feel fear and anxiety about the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The threat of a nuclear explosion can add additional stress." I'm sure glad they explained this. It would never occur to me that an Atomic Holocaust would add additional stress.

So, in the event of nuclear war and total annihilation, remember to practice social distancing and wear your mask!! Because COVID is still very scary.

A Final Crazy Thought
Back in the 50's and 60's America was proud and embraced traditional values of family, faith and freedom. Fearsome Fallout was a worthy boogeyman.

Over the years we have endured ever less impressive boogeymen, Scary Scarcity that never materialized, Calamity Climate Change that is barely noticeable and the Fauci Flu. It seems that Western Civilization has become so fragile that the people are terrified of shadows.

Maybe the re-emergence of our classic Bad-Ass Bogeyman signals a return to classic, traditional values. NAH... but I can dream.

Scarcity for Climate Change
With oil prices hitting $97/ barrel and a War in Europe, gasoline prices in parts of Los Angeles (aka Utopia) are above $6.00/gallon. Note that the two pics are the same Chevron station over the past few weeks. I have ZERO sympathy... the folks in California deserve to get what they voted for.

The very concerned Democrats are talking about suspending the 18¢ Federal gasoline tax until the midterms. The Gas Price Relief Act was recently introduced by Sens. Mark Kelly of Arizona and Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, two vulnerable Democrats seeking reelection. This is so hypocritical it almost deserves to be in Clown World. LOL

Of course the money will have to come from somewhere so they will borrow it! Honest!

It's Self Inflicted
Earlier this month a Federal District Court issued an injunction to prevent the Administration from using "the social cost of carbon" as a factor for prohibiting oil and gas leases. The Administration is defying the injunction by using the injunction itself as an excuse to pause all leases while the issue is appealed. Yes, we must create even more scarcity and fuel inflation to save us all from Climate Change.

More Scarcity to Come

Green Energy
Wow, the Green New Deal folks are turning America into an energy importer while they push uneconomical solar, wind and EVs.

Unfortunately for them (and us) global shortages of critical materials are driving up the cost of 'green' energy.

The rising costs of polysilicon and aluminum are forcing LG to shut down its solar panel factory in Huntsville, AL. The American plant was opened in 2019 in response to President Trump imposing a 30% tariff on Chinese panels. www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lg-to-exit-global-solar-panel-business-301488051.html

The cost of polysilicon (the main material in the solar cells), has increased over 300% in the past year alone.

This is truly a sad development. I researched all of the major panel manufacturers before we installed our solar array and LG was widely considered to be the best in terms of efficiency and warranty. www.neoterra.us/blog/category/solar-power

Closing this American plant will force more imports from our good buddies in China. Imports that are subsidized by our tax dollars. There's nothing better than taxing Americans and sending the money to China.

Lithium
Continuing in the area of 'Green' technology, the rising cost of Lithium could seriously impact the cost of Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Lithium, as you may have guessed is the primary material for producing Lithium-ion batteries.... and EVs need a lot of battery.

The global production of Lithium was about 345,000 tons in 2020 and will need to increase to over 1 million tons by 2025 and at least 2 million tons by 2030 to allow a transition to EVs. In other words, we need about a 600% increase over the next 8 years.

It is certainly possible to increase global Lithium production but it is unclear where it will come from over the long term because the known reserves are only about 18.4 million tons. If demand reaches 2 million tons by 2030, then the world will run out of Lithium by 2036 or 2037.

Note that this isn't a crisis, at this point. There are several possibilities:

As with natural gas, we may discover vast , additional reserves of Lithium
New battery technology might eliminate or greatly reduce the need for Lithium
Lithium remains scarce, EVs become too expensive and the world continues using gasoline until alternatives are developed.

Conclusion
I am all in favor of expanded solar energy and the adoption of EVs as they become cost competitive.

That said. It is irrational to replace an energy source (such as natural gas) that is cheap, abundant, domestic and has substantial infrastructure in place, while 'green' energy relies on materials that are scarce and primarily controlled by the Chinese.

To end the week, the Biden Administration has issued significant policy changes regarding the approval of new natural gas facilities and pipelines. The new policy shall require a "robust consideration" of environmental justice impacts of fossil fuel projects. You know... because of Climate Change.

This will delay or restrict future energy projects, reduce the supply of energy and drive up the cost... of everything.

Over the last several posts we have already established that the impacts of "Climate Change" are wildly exaggerated and predictions made by "Climate Scientists" over the past 70 years have been stunningly incorrect.

One year ago the United States was energy independent. This Administration is using the Climate Change hoax to create an energy scarcity hoax. It is a boogeyman tag-team using one fraud to justify another.

Self Inflicted Scarcity - The Supply Chain 'Crisis'

Joe Says It's Not His Fault
It is fun to mock hypocrisy and deceit. While the Administration and their media cheerleaders are trying to blame the supply chain and inflation on greedy corporations and evil farmers, both problems are largely self inflicted.

I’d like to say this is mere incompetence, but with every passing day it appears to be intentional.

As an example, let’s look at how California is ‘solving’ the ridiculous backup of container ships waiting to unload. Awhile back they changed the definition of how many ships are waiting, so the number dropped substantially. In reality, they have forced the ships to wait further out at sea (where they can’t be seen) and the number waiting has actually increased. In my humble view, this is called ‘deceit’.

By the way, the supply chain screw up is getting worse.

California policies contribute to this problem. As an example, California bans all trucks 2011 or older (cuz of climate) and bans most self-employed drivers (cuz they hate entrepreneurs). Because of the self-inflicted truck-and-driver shortage, off-loaded containers are languishing in unsecured locations where they are being looted. “Thousands of boxes as far as the eye could see were strewn along the railroad tracks .."

This is not litter, my friends, this is the result of rampant looting.

In fact, train robberies in Los Angeles have increased by 356 percent since Biden took office.

It’s not that the government is unable to prevent this criminal activity. It is simply unwilling.
Progressive Urban Socialists (PUS) in California (and DC) allow this to occur by not prosecuting people who were arrested for stealing from trains.

All of this is easily fixed.

Temporarily waive the California “Climate Change” restrictions on out-of-state trucks
Temporarily waive the California prohibition of owner-operators
Provide security for the backlogged containers sitting in railroad yards.

BTW, unlike illegal jab-mandates, the Federal Gov actually has Constitutional Standing over inter-state transport and trade so it could demand that Governor Newsome make the necessary temporary waivers. Ask yourself, how come Joe and Pete aren’t getting this taken care of??

Instead, they keep passing the buck and passing the blame.

A History Lesson - The Marshal Plan
We are being told that the global economy is a mess because of supply-chain problems -> because of COVID -> because of Trump. This is truly 4th-order “its-not-my-fault” deflection.

If you want to understand real supply-chain problems you need to go back to 1947 when all of Europe, all of Japan and all of Asia was nothing more than smoking ruins. Between 1948 and 1951 the United States provided massive aid (the equivalent of $143B) and put the entire Western world back on the path to prosperity. Today, the Progressives are trying to convince you they need to spend $6T to put us on a path to poverty.

For your consideration… The following is a genuine supply-chain breakdown. I bet it was really difficult to get Amazon Prime deliveries...

Germany, and all of Western Europe regained prosperity in just over a decade with evil, colonial, racist, misogynistic American leadership..

Today we are experiencing bare shelves and spiraling inflation all due to a fraudulent supply-chain crisis. It is intentional, willful negligence. If we continue to act like sheep then America will cease to be prosperous.

Self Inflicted Scarcity - Fertilizer

In the previous post I briefly mentioned how government energy policy is creating a critical shortage of fertilizer. Today I'd like to discuss this self inflicted crisis in a little more detail.

The Haber Process
Nitrogen is essential for plant growth, but Nitrogen is almost inert and doesn't bond easily with other elements. Prior to the discovery/invention of the Haber Process bat guano was a primary source of nitrogen-rich fertilizer... and bat guano is genuinely scarce.

Over 100 years ago, two German scientists, Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, developed a chemical process to transform Nitrogen from the air and methane (i.e. natural gas) into synthetic fertilizer.

Note that Nitrogen compounds can be unstable so the first use of the Haber process was the manufacture of explosives in WWI. Following the war, with the process perfected, the production of synthetic fertilizer took off and millions (perhaps billions) of people have been saved from starvation.

I won't go into the chemistry but you can click the colorful graphic to get a full explanation.

In short, Nitrogen is taken from the air (the blue input at the bottom left) and natural gas (the red input) provides Hydrogen and a LOT of heat. The result is ammonia which is then converted into fertilizer (or explosives).

This is a prime example of why the Scarcity Boogeyman has failed to appear... human ingenuity creates alternatives and substitutes for scarce resources (like bat guano).

As an important side benefit, the use of synthetic fertilizer dramatically increases crop yields... we can grow a LOT more food on a LOT less land. It is estimated that we would need four times as much crop land without synthetic fertilizer.

Energy Shortage = Food Shortage
This crisis has been building for awhile and the Wall Street Journal has picked up on this looming shitstorm.

I want to be very clear, I don't expect that anyone will starve in America. For us, the result of food shortages will be continuing inflation. Food will cost more (along with energy), but we will get by.

People in poor countries will not be able to afford food and I expect to see all manner of propaganda from the UN saying that Climate Change is responsible for famine. (Click the Pic).

This will be double Boogeymen-of-Doom on a bicycle built for two.

What About Organic Fertilizer
Organic is good, right?? Sure, manure of various sorts has been used as fertilizer since the dawn of agriculture. The problem is, manure isn't abundant or convenient.

In utopian North Korea the fertilizer crisis is so severe the government is “encouraging” the comrades to produce fertilizer from their own poop. The ‘suggested’ quota is about 300 lbs of poop-per-person. I don't know how they expect to accomplish this, as that is about twice the body weight of the average North Korean peasant.

“In an attempt to incentivize people, North Korea has also introduced a pass which will only be given to people who achieve that quota of manure production,” You can’t make this shit up folks (Gosh I love my own jokes).

If you thought jab-passports were bad.. just imagine the Squad advocating poop-passports to get into restaurants or grocery stores ALL CHEER FOR GLORIOUS SOCIALISM... YAY!!

Conclusion
Energy shortages are inflicted upon us by our own governments and the UN. These shortages will ripple through all aspects of the global economy and result in a declining standard of living in industrialized nations and starvation in poor nations.

We may also see accelerated environmental degradation in poor countries as they are forced to destroy forestland to develop more cropland.

And it is all intentional.

Self Inflicted Scarcity - Part 1

In previous posts I explained how global prosperity has been improving over the past 60 years in spite of relentless predictions of scarcity, famine and destruction.

Well, folks, if reality won't cooperate then the globalists will just have to orchestrate a whole bunch of scarcity. They are accomplishing this with 'Green' energy policy and with fraudulent, self-inflicted supply chain problems. Today, I'll talk about the self-inflicted energy 'crisis'.

Euro Energy Crisis
Energy prices in Europe are out of control. Most of Europe is suffering from a severe shortage of natural gas and prices have quadrupled since last year (prices were even higher for a few weeks last December).

In the midst of this energy shortage, Germany has decided this is a good time to shutter three (of their six) perfectly good nuclear plants. The Energy Ripple Effect
Energy is the key to prosperity. 'Green' policy and bad decisions regarding energy have created self-inflicted energy shortages that will ripple through all aspects of the global economy.

Aluminum is one of our most beneficial materials. It is widely used in a vast array of products, from cookware, to foil, to automotive, to construction.

Production of aluminum is extremely energy intensive. Currently, aluminum smelters across the globe have cut back or shut down entirely due to dwindling energy stockpiles. The price of aluminum has soared over 60% in the past year which will create shortages of hundreds of products.

Natural Gas is the primary feed stock for the production of fertilizer. Scores of fertilizer plants (particularly in Europe) have been shut down to conserve natural gas for home heating.

This WILL result in a shortage of fertilizer in the spring and to food shortages later in the year.

So, the energy crisis leads to a shortage of fertilizer, which will lead to a food shortage which will cause hunger and famine.

It is all predictable and it is all intentionally self inflicted.
