Lost and Found
A couple of months ago I talked about putting in a vegetable garden. The coldest temps on record created problems with our well and killed a couple thousand dollars of shrubs. So I lost my motivation for planting.

Then I visited my friends G&J. They gave me a tour of their amazing garden and I found my enthusiasm again!

That said... I'm starting small with just four containers. If I can actually get anything to grow then I'll add four more next year.

Progress Report
The only sunny location at neoTerra is along the north side of the driveway. It's also the most level location on our property... but it's not that level.

The project started two weeks ago with delivery of 10 yards of topsoil. Since I'm obsessive, I bought a truckload of concrete blocks to level the containers.

Here are the two front containers with the entry gate.

View toward the south with three containers in place. I like the way the corrugated metal containers go with the metal siding on the house. Note that the concrete piers extend past the containers to the left... that will provide the foundation to extend the garden next year (if I'm ambitious).

A view from the east. Only one more container to install! BUT, I have to move a lot of dirt first... It takes about a cubic yard for each of the two front containers and more for the back containers which are 10-12 inches above grade.

I'd better get moving!!! It's almost time to plant!

This week it was revealed that the Biden Administration is considering a mandatory program to vax all the chickens in America to control the H5N1 bird flu.   Because... The Sky Is Falling!

This could be a huge problem for farmers since many other countries will not accept food products from animals that have been treated with hormones or a controversial vax.

On the other hand, the pharmaceutical companies are very excited to have Billions of new customers.

Chicken Registration
Not to be outdone by Biden, the UK government is requiring people who raise a few chickens for their personal use to register them with the government. (aka backyard chickens)   “These proposals will enable us to have a full picture of the number and location of birds kept across Great Britain"

Random Thoughts
It strikes me as odd that we make no effort to keep track of MILLIONS of un-vaxxed illegal aliens wandering around the country but we need to have contact tracing for backyard chickens!

Actually, illegal aliens do bring illegal alien chickens into the United States (along with illegal alien fentynal and illegal alien weapons) ... but they are exempt "sanctuary chickens'. Under the Democrat DACA (Deferred Action for Chicken Arrivals) rule, the illegal chickens shall be referred to as Drumsticks!

Bad Birdies
There are over 65 species of wild birds that are also susceptible to Avian Flu. (that's the main vector for it's spread, BTW). Thus far, our Socialist Overlords have not be able to compel the Billions of wild birds to come in for registration, vaccination and contact tracing.   Rebellious Ravens and Selfish Sparrows simply refuse to comply!

Clown World - How To Reduce Murder Rates

This is so tragic I was reluctant to call it Clown World. People ask me why I demonize Democrats... well, it's because Democrats are demons.

No More Murder
This week, Democrat lawmaker Charlotte Cruchfield introduced legislation that would prevent anyone under 25 with being charged with murder. Please let me make this VERY CLEAR. If you're under 25 you can kill people and not get charged with murder.

The Democrat 'science' behind the 'Youth Accountability and Safety Act' is "the human brain is not fully formed in the frontal lobes until age 25".

Please keep in mind that these are the same people who say that 16-year-olds are mature enough to vote and that 12-year-olds are mature enough to get gender surgery without their parent's permission.

Forgive me if I see a demonic contradiction here. SO... according to Democrats, at 25 a person's brain is not mature enough to understand that murder is BAD... but at 16 they are mature enough to vote on genuinely complex issues. I'm sorry Dems... you cannot have it both ways.

Dem Benefits
I always say 'follow the money' which should be expanded to 'follow the benefits'. What are the benefits... you might ask??

Let us be clear... there are NO benefits to the citizens who will continue to be terrorized by violent thugs. However, there will be great benefits to the Democrat politicians:

At least 75% of murders in Democrat-run urban areas will no longer be referred to as murders. They will change the language and come up with some new disingenuous term like 'death from being in the wrong place at the wrong time'. There will be even more dead bodies but reported crime will be dramatically reduced. Dem cities will become officially safer... LOL
The majority of violent crime in every Democrat-run urban are is committed by young Black males. Acknowledging the truth is clearly caving in to white, western concepts of law and morality. Decriminalizing murder is a virtuous step toward equity. We must normalize violence and murder in the name of 'Safety'.

Conclusion
We are allowing our nation to become a place where violence and even murder are tolerated... if you fit the right demographic.   The outmoded idea that All-Men-Are-Equal-In-The-Eyes-Of-The-Law has come to an end.

I think we should all write to our Representatives and Senators to suggest an 'Elderly Accountability and Safety Act'.    This Act would propose that all people over 65 are no longer mentally competent to be charged with murder.

Who knows... perhaps the hunted would become the hunters.   If there was a level playing field.

Joe Biden's Pledge
Joe Biden is at it again... recently declaring "But guess what? We’re going to ban assault weapons again come hell or high water.”

Let's ignore the Unconstitutionality of this pledge for a moment and focus merely on the dishonesty and deception.

An AR-15 (or similar) is NOT an 'assault weapon". By military definition an 'assault weapon' is fully automatic (i.e. a machine gun) while the AR-15 is semi-auto.
- If the Democrats were at all honest they would state that they seek to ban ALL semi-automatic weapons... instead of invoking scary 'assault weapons'.
Over the past two years, Joe had both the House and the Senate... and they did nothing. Now that Conservatives control the House his pledge is disingenuous at best.

The 1994 Assault Weapon Ban
Joe goes on to brag about the effectiveness of 'his' 1994 Assault Weapon Ban, which is also total deception. In the 1994 AWB an 'Assault Weapon' was defined as follows:

A semi-automatic rifle with the ability to accept a detachable magazine and at least two of the following banned features.
1. A folding or telescoping stock.
2. A pistol grip.
3. A bayonet mount.
4. A flash suppressor or threaded barrel.
5. A grenade launcher

I'm not aware of anyone ever robbing a convenience store at bayonet-point... AND... grenades were (and are) illegal as 'destructive devices'. Manufacturers merely removed the 'banned features', except for the pistol grip and continued to sell warm, cuddly 'Sporting Rifles'.

The rifle in the top picture is a vicious 'Assault Weapon'... see the bayonet lug protruding below the front site. The lower picture is an identical Colt AR-15 with the bayonet lug milled off...

Joe's 1994 AWB was an epic failure. There was no decrease in gun violence.

The ban also greatly increased interest in the AR. Prior to the ban there were fewer than 1 million ARs in circulation but that number increased rapidly after 1994. Today, it's estimated that there are 20 million civilian-owned ARs.

With 20/20 hindsight, many view Joe Biden as the greatest AR booster in history.

Education
In spite of spending more money per pupil than any other Midwestern State, a recent report indicates there are 60 schools in Illinois where ZERO students are proficient in either math or reading. Twenty-three schools, including 18 in Chicago, are on both lists.

Imagine the frustration of being a lazy, dumb-ass in a school where there's not a single kid you can cheat off. Not one kid you can beat the crap out of and steal their homework.

It is astounding that Illinois allocated $9.4 BILLION to the Chicago Public Schools and the Feds kicked in an additional $1.8 BILLION through the American Rescue Plan. $11.2 BILLION... and less than half of the students can read, write or do basic math!

Democrats are blaming COVID for these dismal results even though the statistics from 2019 are not much better. "As 2022 academic scores were reported last fall, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) saw that, by and large, our scores were consistent with other large urban districts. We have reminded our community that these scores are a direct reflection of the pandemic challenges"

Actually, I am reminded that other failing urban districts are also run by Democrats.

I'm amazed that I can write (and read) these blog posts since I attended grammar-school and high-school in Chiraq.

I find it tragically ironic that Dunbar High School, where ZERO, ZERO students can read or do math is allowed to refer to itself as a "Career Academy".

Beetlejuice
I am very sad to report that Lori Lightfoot, the illustrious Mayor of Chiraq, has lost her bid for re-election.

To be honest, I'm only sad because she has won my Clown-Of-The-Week award multiple times and even the coveted Hypocrite-Of-The-Month. It will be difficult to find another leader whose total incompetence is so surpassed by their elitist arrogance.

I will surely miss you, Lori.

However, she has left us with a final bit of amusement, claiming that she lost because of racism and gender. Insulting the intelligence of Chicagoans to the very end... LOL

It's March 1st and the Climate Crazies are doing everything they can to destroy prosperity. Time for an EV roundup!

Repo-Man
Speaking of roundups... last week Ford filed a patent titled "Systems and Methods to Repossess a Vehicle".

I know you all want a self-driving car that can drive you home after a long evening at Rocco's Pub. Well, that same car will be able to drive itself to the re-possessor when you miss a payment. No repo-man will be needed. YAY!

Even better... the smart car will be able to open your smart garage door and take off while you're asleep. Sweet dreams are made of this!

Going Postal
The United States Postal Service (USPS), who manage to lose hundreds of millions every year, has been tasked to electrify it's vast fleet of delivery trucks. Although the USPS is supposedly self-sufficient, they have been granted $3 BILLION taxpayer dollars as part of the Inflation Acceleration Act.

The USPS plans to purchase 66,000 EVs at a cost of almost $10 BILLION. This year they will purchase over 9,000 electric Ford Transits and they have issued $260 Million in contracts for 14,000 charging stations (which comes to about $18, 600 per charger).

On a more positive note... the delivery trucks will be able to drive themselves to the Repossession Agency when the USPS can't pay it's bills.

Get A Manicure
The Biden Administration has committed $7.5 BILLION to install 500,000 EV chargers across the nation's busiest highways (that's $15,000 per charger BTW). The goal is to have charging stations no more than 50 miles apart along the 48,000 miles of the Interstate system and an additional 25,000 miles of the busiest highways.

Based on this program there would be at least 1,500 locations but there would likely be around 15,000.

The federally-funded chargers must be placed within 1 mile of state-designated EV Corridors. This will insure that rural areas do not get any financial benefit from the Federal spending-spree.

It's also unlikely that the Federally-funded chargers will be located at existing service stations. Surveys conducted by states show that EV owners want amenities ... like manicures, showers and fine dining while they wait 40 minutes to recharge.

I should also point out that the true cost is FAR greater than the Federal estimate. Fast chargers currently cost $30k - $75k... much more than the Fed estimate of $15k. I assume that the manufacturers will kick in the rest and make profit from the charging fees (like current gas stations).

So, the true cost of 500,000 chargers will be around $25 BILLION. I know that sounds like a lot of money, but its actually pretty tiny compared to the US GDP which was around $23 TRILLION in 2021.

Honestly, I'm not opposed to spending $7.5 BILLION to jump start the EV Corridors. My concern is that the technology just isn't ready and the plan is simply not practical.

When you look at a typical rest-stop along the Interstate there will be as many as 20 gas pumps (or there may be multiple service stations with 8-10 pumps each).   Since it only takes 5-10 minutes to fill your car each pump can service about 8 cars per hour while a fast charging station can only service one.

500,000 chargers will be totally inadequate for peak periods. To replace 20 gas pumps will require 100 - 150 fast chargers!

The power consumption is also mind boggling. A 200 amp charger (needed for a 40-minute charge) consumes 96 kW of power. So... 100 chargers would require 9.6 Megawatts of power. That's enough to power 10,000 homes!    In other words, the EV service center will consume more power than the entire town it's located in!

It would require 30,000 solar panels to produce that much power at noon on a sunny day. A standard solar panel is 3.25 ft x 5.5 ft ... or about 18 square feet.   Thus 30,000 panels would occupy about 536,000 square feet or 13.5 acres.... AND it doesn't work at night!

This is basic physics, folks. There is no free lunch.
