Germany
This morning in Germany, communication lines critical for rail traffic were sabotaged in two locations. Rail services in northern Germany were suspended.

German authorities indicate that important fiber optic cables in Dortmund and Berlin-Hohenschönhausen were cut.

The cables were repaired within 3 hours (The Germans are efficient).

Crimea
Just yesterday a massive explosion damaged the only bridge connecting Russia to Crimea. Things are starting to spiral out of control and it isn't even winter yet.

This stuff is right out of a Jason Loner novel... but it is 8 years ahead of schedule.

The Cats of War
To express their solidarity with Ukraine the International Feline Federation (FIFe) is enacting sanctions against... Russian Cats.

Henceforth, the furry felines of Russia will not be allowed to participate in kitty completions. Instead, they will be forced to stretch out in the sun, chase chipmunks or do whatever it is that cats do.

Please note that cats who identify as dogs will still be allowed to compete in the Olympic Tail Wagging competitions.

Boogeymen of Doom
I've written a bit about Scary Scarcity and Calamity Climate Change. The current crisis in Ukraine reminds me that governments have been using fear and anxiety to manipulate us forever.

With the COVID Boogeyman loosing appeal it's time to bring back the Big Guy, the biggest, baddest Boogeyman of all time... Russia and Fearsome Fallout.

Honestly, it's been so long since I had Fallout Anxiety that I forgot to include him in the Boogeyman Hall of Fame.

Today I will correct that terrible oversight and give Fallout the honor of Top Boogeyman of All Time.

Fearsome Fallout
In the 50's and 60's Fearsome Fallout was the Big Boogeyman. Teachers taught Duck-and-Cover in the classroom (sort of like teaching CRT today). We were taught to be constantly vigilant for nuclear destruction which could happen at any moment.

Watch this short clip and tell me this wasn't a fear and anxiety campaign targeting the young.

It truly was mass psychosis, the government and media went nuts with Fallout Mania. Building home fallout shelters became the responsible (and glamorous) thing to do. The Prepper Movement is nothing new. Click the Pics.

Fearsome Fallout is Back on Stage
Putin has brought Fearsome Fallout back to his rightful place on center stage. And Little Rocketman is joining in on the fun with more missile tests.

Our genius government actually updated the Nuclear Explosion Readiness Site just last week. I am not making this up!

In the event of atomic war "maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household. If possible, wear a mask if you’re sheltering with people who are not a part of your household. "

"Many people may already feel fear and anxiety about the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The threat of a nuclear explosion can add additional stress." I'm sure glad they explained this. It would never occur to me that an Atomic Holocaust would add additional stress.

So, in the event of nuclear war and total annihilation, remember to practice social distancing and wear your mask!! Because COVID is still very scary.

A Final Crazy Thought
Back in the 50's and 60's America was proud and embraced traditional values of family, faith and freedom. Fearsome Fallout was a worthy boogeyman.

Over the years we have endured ever less impressive boogeymen, Scary Scarcity that never materialized, Calamity Climate Change that is barely noticeable and the Fauci Flu. It seems that Western Civilization has become so fragile that the people are terrified of shadows.

Maybe the re-emergence of our classic Bad-Ass Bogeyman signals a return to classic, traditional values. NAH... but I can dream.

NATO Response Force
The NATO Response Force has been activated for the first time in history. Thousands of US troops are being deployed to Europe. (Note, they are not being sent to Ukraine).

As I have mentioned previously, I am opposed to sending any more troops. The United States has had troops in Europe since the end of WWII. This is a European problem exacerbated by their 'Green energy' policies. They should step up after 75 years of getting a free-ride.

Peace Talks

There haven't been a lot of images posted on Main Stream Media. They are paralyzed... the War is terrible but they dare not make Saint Biden look any worse. I have been scavenging images... many are very disturbing. This is what's really happening on the ground.

Redefining Urban Warfare
For decades, the Russians (and the Chinese) have followed a doctrine that relied on massive armor.. huge numbers of tanks and armored personnel carriers (APCs). In the first Iraq war, the United States demonstrated that Air-Superiority would readily defeat ground-based armor.

The Russians observed this lesson and eradicated as much of the Ukrainian Air Force as possible to insure that their armor would be invincible. But the equation has changed.

Over many decades, the West has developed impressive anti-armor weapons for ground troops. The current conflict in the Ukraine will test how the WWII armor philosophy stands up against sophisticated man-portable weapons. Let's look at the NLAW.

The American Javelin is the pre-eminant anti-armor weapon but it is incredibly expensive (an American trait). The Saab, NLAW is somewhat less capable but about 1/4 the cost.

Let's see how it performs. Weapons like these could make armor obsolete in urban warfare. Maybe the Ukrainian conflict is the crucible.

Sustaining Liberty - A Lesson From the Ukraine

The Second Amendment
The situation in Ukraine reminds me why the 2nd Amendment is a crucial element for sustaining liberty and freedom.

Yesterday, the Ukrainian government passed a law granting civilians the right to carry guns (kinda late) and began handing out weapons to civilian volunteers. Reports I've seen state they had between 10,000 to 15,000 weapons to distribute.

By comparison, it is estimated that there are over 600 MILLION civilian-owned firearms in America and at least 18 MILLION Modern Sporting Rifles (MSR).

On the left, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are members of the United States House who have been gun owners for much of their adult lives. On the right, Kira Rudik is a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament who has never fired a weapon but who has now vowed to stay and fight. "each of us must take up arms and do his duty. Not because there are no men around, but because we can. And we will,”

The population of Ukraine is about 43 Million so 15k - 20k rifles won't make much difference. But maybe this will make people around the world understand that self-defense is both a right and an obligation.

I hope we will never see a scene like this in America.... hundreds of women and teenagers turning out to make primitive explosives because they lack weapons. I hope we never allow ourselves to be so dis-armed. (Though I learned that crushed Styrofoam makes a better Molotov).

I hope we are never in a situation where we are handing outdated weapons and a box of ammo to untrained men.

I hope we never expect our grandmothers to defend us.

I hope America can find its soul and restore our traditional values.

Ukraine Update

Economy
The world is an utterly strange place. On 02/16 the DOW closed at about 34k. It plunged as much as 1700 points on Thursday following the Russian invasion. It regained it all on Friday, to close again at about 34k.

I Need Ammunition, Not A Ride
Wow! Amid fierce fighting in Kyiv the United States offered to evacuate Ukrainian President Zelensky. He replied "The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,". THAT IS LEADERSHIP.

This man will go down in history along with Leonidas and General McAuliffe. In the meantime, President Biden has retreated to Delaware so he can avoid reporters.

The Ukrainians claim they have slowed the Russian advance, although Kyiv is surrounded.

Mr. Putin claims that he has invaded Ukraine to stamp out NAZIs and protect the citizens. He must be a charter member of ANTIFA!

We see a somewhat different side to what tyranny is really all about. This is a disturbing video.

BTW, this is why we have the Second Amendment. The Ukrainians are getting this idea way too late. Don't be a Sheep!!

The shit has hit the fan in Ukraine. Wow, just two days ago the Washington Post was claiming that Putin probably wished Trump was still in office so he could invade Ukraine.

Putin has, in fact, officially declared WAR and is conducting a full scale invasion "to demilitarize Ukraine". I guess Putin isn't afraid of Biden or CornPop.

I'll reiterate my personal view: America should stay the hell out of this. The Euros (particularly Germany) made themselves dependent on Russian and Ukrainian gas... now Russia will control both sources.
