Clown World - I Worked At McDonald's

9/2/2024

In a strange attempt to pretend to identify with working people, Kamala Harris has claimed that she once worked for McDonald's.   Some folks on the right are calling it "Stolen McValor",  as a jab at Walz's false claims of serving in Iraq.

Quite frankly I don't care if she did or didn't .... this clip from Trump impersonator Shawn Farash will give ya'll a Labor Day Laugh.

Random Thoughts - Mongolia

Mongolia??
In The Lattice, I hypothesize that the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) will become the CRIMB (China, Russia, India, Mongolia, Brazil).
  • Perhaps they'll keep South Africa because of its strategic location. But I predict the country will descend into tribal civil war and total collapse within eight years.
  • Diversity = tribalism -  afktravel.com/82025/south-africa-ethnic-diversity-afrikaner-zulu/

Note that BRICS is not a military alliance like NATO.  It is an economic trading block.  With a current population of about 3.7 Billion it encompasses more than 45% of the entire global population.

Mongolia is the most sparsely populated nation on Earth with a population of only 3.4 million in an area the size of Texas.
  • Hmmm, I wonder how their StarLink service is.  It might be a great place for a recluse.

Why would I include tiny Mongolia in the future CRIMB??

Let's look at the map.
Picture

Though Mongolia has substantial mineral resources of its own, the fact that it's the keystone between the vast resources in Siberia and the hungry markets in eastern China makes it an important partner in what will become the world's largest trading block.

Note that Kazakhstan also shares a border with both China and Russia, but it is in the arid and very sparsely populated region of western China.  Consequently, Mongolia has the three most important characteristics for real estate:  Location, Location, Location.

Picture

You may wonder why I'm writing about this tiny country today.

The Putin Visit
Tomorrow, September 3rd, Vladimir Putin will make a state visit to Mongolia.

The International Criminal Court (ICC), headquartered in the Hague, has issued an International Arrest Warrant for Putin, related to the War in Ukraine.  I agree that the war is horrific, but all wars are horrific.
abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/kremlin-worries-putin-visit-mongolia-despite-icc-warrant-113266826

If the ICC can compel a third nation to arrest the head of a major (and nuclear) world power, and the leader of one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council for alleged crimes, then they can arrest anyone, anywhere for any reason.  Perhaps they could arrest Joe Biden for sending arms to Israel.

Furthermore, the ICC is redundant since the United Nations already has the International Court of Justice.  It has been criticized for being biased and Eurocentric.

Tomorrow will be a pivotal day.  If Mongolia does arrest Putin (unlikely) the media will be cheering for the righteous victory of the Euro-Globalists.

If Mongolia declines, it will foster greater economic interdependence between Russia, China ... and Mongolia.

We live in interesting times.

As you know, the neoTerra Blog has always been about sustainability.  For many years it was focused on sustainable residential design and living.  However, over the last three years the focus has shifted to Sustaining Freedom and Liberty.

Today, I'd like to make you aware of a new drug that can help with depression, feelings of rage and bouts of egotistical elitism.

The drug, brought to you by RFK,  is called Independence.

Common side effects may include introspection, critical thinking and occasional thoughts that all people are created equal.

Ask your doctor if Independence is right for you.

Compartments - Ahead of Schedule

8/30/2024

In The Lattice I describe a future Brave New World based on the goals of the World Economic Forum (WEF).  It's a society where you own nothing; where you have no privacy and where you sacrifice prosperity to save the climate.

Most people live in tiny compartments ... dormitory-style rooms that adhere to the WEF guidelines for satisfying "Human Needs".  About 120 square-feet per person with no kitchen or bathroom (or plumbing) ... but at least it is a room, with a door.

I'm sad to say that reality is already racing ahead and even compartments are too extravagant.   There is a growing Sleep-Pod-Living movement in California.  Here's an example in  San Francisco.  For only $675/month you can share a 3 bath "apartment" with 13 other people.  The Democratic Socialist World Order is already here.   YAY!!

California leads the way and the lesson is clear.  If you can't convince people to sacrifice for the Climate, then make things so absurdly expensive that they'll either leave the state or happily accept living in urban communal hives.

The Rational Prepper - Investing for Kamala

8/17/2024

Kamunism
VP (and Democrat candidate for President) Harris recently proposed a plan of massive tax cuts (a Trump Kopy Kat maneuver) and communist style price controls.  It should be noted that price controls have been tried, and have failed miserably, in every Communist/Socialist regime throughout history.  There has never been a successful outcome.

Picture

Kamala's Great Vision
Price control seems wonderful if you're a low-information sheep who doesn't understand economics or history.  People can't make a living selling products at a loss, so legitimate stores have empty shelves (or go out of business) while Black Markets thrive.  The elites get whatever they want while the common people are faced with shortages and starvation.

The Dems might try to convince you that this is just a scare-tactic from the Cold War.  But the current situation in Venezuela proves them wrong.

This article from NPR is from the Saint Obama era.  But I assure you, the situation in Venezuela has only gotten WORSE.

Picture
Here is an excerpt describing price-controls:

"In Venezuela, government supermarkets sell price-controlled food, making them far cheaper than private stores. But Valero explains that people are allowed in state-run supermarkets just two days per week, based on their ID card numbers.

We stop at a state-run store. There are no lines outside, but that often means there's not much food left. Inside, the meat department is a barren landscape.

There's just unplugged display cases, flies and a bad odor," Valero says. She settles for three cans of sardines. She also finds diapers for Jeremy.

The clerk scans the merchandise and then informs her she can only buy two of the three cans of sardines. Then, Valero must produce Jeremy's birth certificate to prove the baby is theirs and that they really do need the diapers."

The only folks who actually have food to sell (at exorbitant prices) are the Black Marketers.

The Black Market Coffee Company
So, as a hedge against Kamala, I suggest a fantastic business opportunity.  The Black Market Coffee Company.  YAY!

Over a year ago, I published a Blog about the alleged global coffee bean shortage.  Of course this isn't about government incompetence ... it's always about Climate Change.

I had to give up my beloved Sumatra and I bought two cases of (12 tubs) of Folgers Black Silk.  It was $6.99/tub back then and is now $11.99.

So, I think I should buy 1,000 tubs of Folgers and wait for Kamala to destroy the supply of coffee by forcing the price down to a loss.  It's a sure bet ... if she wins.

I'm sure that some of you can remember the old jokes about a con-man selling stolen watches from his trench coat.  "Hey Buddy, wanna buy a watch?"

Sometime old-school is best-school so my strategy is similar.  I'm gonna hang out in front of an upscale (non gov controlled) coffee shop and pick up hot babes who can no longer afford their morning latte ... you know, the ones standing outside, face pressed up against the window, looking desperate for a cup of joe.

My only problem is I don't own a fedora or a trench-coat.  Maybe I can write those off as a business expense.

StarLink - Complete!!

8/15/2024

I let the sloppy "science fair" project run on the kitchen counter for several days to be sure that everything was reliable.
Picture

There have been no issues, so, yesterday, I cut a hole in the kitchen wall and drilled a hole through the outside wall for the StarLink cable.  I cut about 20 feet off the StarLink cable after running it into the house.

The wall is 2x8 construction with an inch of spray foam and 6.5 inch pink fiberglass bats.

I transferred the components to a steel plate and mounted that inside the wall.

Picture
Picture

I let it run overnight to be sure that the power supply wouldn't overheat.  This morning it was reading 99 degrees which is totally acceptable.   So, I installed a decorative grill and did some cleanup at the network hub.  Windstream is now disconnected.

The grill is from Saba Home Decor.  They have  a lot of cool designs.

Performance is better than I expected.  WOW!

Sustaining Liberty - Free Speech Under Attack

8/11/2024

The Ministry of Truth
A couple of years ago the Biden administration attempted to create a modern-day Ministry of Truth straight out of 1984.  It was called the Disinformation Governance Board and it's purpose was to restrict and infringe the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.  neoterra.us/blog/freedom-of-speech-the-ministry-of-truth-is-born

Fortunately, the Disinformation Governance Board was quickly shut down due to public outrage.
www.dhs.gov/news/2022/08/24/following-hsac-recommendation-dhs-terminates-disinformation-governance-board

The United Kingdom
However, the campaign against Free Speech is alive and well in Europe, especially in the Fascist Monarchy of The United Kingdom where posting misinformation on social media is now a crime punishable by prison time. Recently, a 55 year old woman was arrested at her home for posting incorrect information. www.thefire.org/news/uk-government-issues-warning-think-you-post

In her post about the stabbing murder of three young girls she stated that the perp was a Rwandan immigrant. However, he was the son of Rwandan immigrants.  Her error was classified as hate speech.

Yesterday, Sir Mark Rowley, the UK Metropolitan Police Commissioner re-affirmed his attack on free speech. “We will throw the full force of the law at people, and whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield online, we will come after you.”

Someday soon, the Royal Thought Police will be rounding up any native Brits who dare to disagree with mass migration, climate change or pandemic lockdowns.  In a way, I think they deserve it.

Picture

Please note: despite many sensational reports, Sir Mark did NOT actually suggest that he would extradite Americans (to the UK) for violating British misinformation laws.   I think that was wise ... I can imagine the first Brit Extradition Team receiving a surprise welcome from the Iowa Constitutional Militia.

Never fear.  The Brits won't be shot ... they'll just go to prison for 12 months for misinformation.

StarLink Update

8/9/2024

Background
I installed a StarLink Gen 2 “DISHY” on the roof more than a year ago with the goal of replacing Windstream as our internet provider.
  • Note: Gen 2 with the rectangular dish was the current product at the time.  Gen 3 has recently been introduced.

I made a mount that attaches to the vertical “seams” and does not penetrate the roof.  The roof slope is 2/12 which is roughly 9.5 degrees.  The roof slopes directly north which is ideal for StarLink.

Picture

Full Time StarLink
The goal is to eliminate the Windstream DSL service AND the StarLink WiFi Router.
  • I don't want to keep paying Windstream for inferior service.
  • The StarLink router doesn't allow the use of a VPN.

The dish operates over POE (Power Over Ethernet) but it requires far more power (up to 150 watts) than my existing POE switches can provide.  The power for the dish is normally supplied by the StarLink WiFi Router but a POE Injector can be used instead.
  • Note: The dish normally uses about 50 watts but it has an internal, thermostatically controlled heater for melting ice and snow. The dish can consume about 150 watts when the heater is engaged.

Although the StarLink cable is just a weather-resistant CAT6, the Gen 2 dish uses proprietary connectors rather than a CAT (RJ-45) connector.  (they fixed this for Gen 3).  Fortunately, there are now a couple of companies making cable adapters and high-power POE injectors.  I can buy components rather than reverse engineering.

I decided to buy a cable adapter and a 200 Watt POE injector from Yaosheng.  I also need a substantial 48 volt DC power supply (POE requires 48 volts).   Since I plan to mount the power supply inside the kitchen wall, I decided to buy a sealed, weather-resistant unit with a 400 watt rating.

Here are the components. The power supply is a whopper but it won't overheat.
Picture

The final configuration looks like this:
Picture
I've been experimenting with this for a couple of days and was surprised that the StarLink App still works without the StarLink Router.  Apparently all the intelligence is in the dish and the router is nothing more than a POE power supply and WiFi hotspot.

The new power supply, POE Injector and cable adapter will be located in the kitchen wall where the StarLink cable enters the house.  The new router replaces the Windstream DSL modem in the network hub in the basement.

This morning I replaced the Windstream DSL modem/router with the new router.  I had a few problems with static IP addresses (neoTerra is wired like a small business and my network skills have become a bit rusty) but the house is now running on StarLink!

Picture

Results
I have a bunch of "housekeeping" to do (cut a hole in the kitchen wall, mount components, patch and cleanup) but the system is now operational.

The house is surrounded by huge trees so we have a lot of obstructions that diminish the StarLink performance.  That said, we now have download speeds that are 3.5x - 4x faster than Windstream.

Klown World - Kamala, Pelosi, Oh My!!

Kamala for President
Kamala has now been declared the official Democrat Party candidate for president ... without ever having a primary.   I might find this acceptable if Joe resigned and Kamala became President.  But even sitting Presidents generally face a primary challenge; if, for no other reason, than to create the impression that voters have a voice.

In this case, the illusion of actual Democracy has been dispelled.

Please keep in mind that Kamala had an utterly dismal showing during the actual 2016 primary and did not come in among the top three in any state.  It's simply amazing that the least capable of eleven candidates is now being thrust into the leadership role.

For your amusement, please watch this short 2017 clip of the person who believes they now deserve to be President for ALL Americans.

For those who have difficulty listening to Kamala,  here's the transcript:
“We have to stay woke. Like everybody needs to be woke. And you can talk about if you’re the wokest or woker, but just stay more woke than less woke,”

She goes on to make her open-border position very clear.  Perhaps this is why Joe chose her to be the Border Czar.
“I get upset when we say we’re going to shut our door to refugees who are fleeing such atrocities and have been standing in line for two years to qualify for refugee status, and they arrive here, and we turn them away. Yes, I’m gonna get mad about that. I’m gonna get mad when we have an attorney general who’s trying to resuscitate the war on drugs.

Pelosi is Always Drunk
This is from yesterday (August 5th) and it seems that Nancy has just consumed a 5th.  Why is this person still in Congress??    The clip needs no further comment from me.

Tyrant Biden and the Supremes

7/29/2024

Just yesterday I wrote that the Democrat Party is working to destroy the checks-and-balances embodied in our Constitution.

Well, today Joe is on a campaign to "reform" the Supreme Court because Dems don't like some recent decisions.   Among other things, he is proposing term limits of 18 years for the Supreme Court Justices and that the President (presumably a Democrat forever) gets to appoint a new Justice every two years.

I find his position to be disturbing and incredibly hypocritical.  I quote from his Wapo op-ed this morning.  "I served as a U.S. senator for 36 years, including as chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee. I have overseen more Supreme Court nominations as senator, vice president and president than anyone living today."

www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/07/29/joe-biden-reform-supreme-court-presidential-immunity-plan-announcement/

In other words, this dishonest hypocrite thinks it's OK for him to spend 36 years in the Senate, but seeks to place an 18 year limit on the Supreme Court.  Let's look at a few other career politicians:
  • Diane Feinstein -  Senate:  31 years
  • Bernie Sanders -  House:   16 years   Senate: 18 years   Total: 34 years
  • Nancy Pelosi     -  House:   37 years
  • Ted Kennedy     -  Senate:  46 years
  • Joe                    -  Senate:  36 years  VP: 8 years  Pres: 4 years  Total: 48 years

So, I have a rational proposal, Joe.  I might support term limits for the Supreme Court if you simultaneously and irrevocably place the same limits on Legislators, in the same bill.  As a citizen I will not accept any moves by the Legislative Branch or the Executive Branch to impose restrictions on the Judicial Branch unless the terms are entirely and clearly reciprocal.

Furthermore, since there are two houses, the limits on legislators must be cumulative.  You can't serve 18 years in the House and then another 18 in the Senate.  It should be 18 Total ... then get a real job.

While I'm thinking about it,  I would also demand that anyone who has served their 18 year limit in the legislature should become ineligible to run for President or Vice President.  That would keep career politicians like you out of the Oval Office.

But wait ... there's more!  If the bill requires standing Justices to step down if they're over the limit then it must also have a reciprocal requirement that members of the Legislature shall also immediately step down.  In your own words, Joe ... " Term limits would help ensure that the court’s membership changes with some regularity."   Shouldn't this rational apply to the House and Senate, as well??

Finally, I suggest that we call this the Abolish Career Politicians Act.
