The Socialist, Democrat (but I repeat myself) State of Illinois has just decided to throw the Constitution out the window.
Last week Democrat Gov Pritzker signed HB 3062 that infringes upon the checks-and-balances guaranteed by the Constitution.
Let's review how the Constitution is supposed to protect us and then look at HB 3062.
The Government Has No Intrinsic Rights
The United States is fairly unique. Most countries assume that a Monarchy or "The State' have per-ordained authority over the populace. Many governments rule with a velvet glove... but there is an assumption that the government grants rights to the people.
The United States is the opposite. The government has no intrinsic rights. It does not even have the right to exist. All initiative, authority and rights intrinsically stem from the individual. All rights are the unalienable Provence of the individual. The government is formed and granted limited powers and authority by our mutual consent, for our mutual harmony and benefit.
Checks And Balances
The Constitution was carefully crafted to protect our Liberty and ensure that authority and initiative always belong to the people.
Governmental power is separated between three branches.
Only the Legislative Branch is empowered to create new laws. The House directly represents the people by 'democratic' apportionment while the Senate provides equal protection to the individual states. This was specifically done to prevent more populous regions from riding roughshod over rural areas.
The Executive Branch (i.e the President and the increasingly vast bureaucracy) cannot create laws. This Branch is only empowered to implement and enforce the laws that have been enacted. (This firewall is increasingly infringed by the use of Executive Orders and by regulations created by unelected bureaucrats).
The Supreme Court has no power to create, implement or enforce laws. It's only purpose is to guarantee that the rights of the people are not trampled by the Legislature or by Executive overreach. The Supreme Court is intentionally not elected to insure that they are not vulnerable to populist whims.

There are 102 counties in Illinois. This newly enacted law (signed by Priztker on June 6th) will disenfranchise the people of 100 of those counties (i.e. 98% of the State).
Under the new legislation (which takes effect immediately) citizens may only challenge the constitutionality of an Illinois law from within two of the 102 counties. The two magically privileged counties are Cook and Sangamon (Where the State capitol is located in Springfield).
The courts in both counties are controlled by Democrats (aka anti-American socialists) which insures that no challenges will ever make it to the Illinois Supreme Court.
The following map illustrates the only two areas where a citizen's rights will be protected by the 'checks-and-balances' of the Constitution.

Conclusion
There is a saying that "actions speak louder than words". There is a corollary that states "the true purpose or essence of an organization is what it does".
The Democrat elites rant and scream about protecting Democracy (from deplorable Conservatives). BUT, in reality, they hate Democracy... they will demean, cancel, shout-down, intimidate and even persecute anyone who doesn't bow-down and embrace their 'superior' ideology.
The essence of the Democrat Party is what it does... not what it says.
